Nitin Gadkari Reveals He Declined Offer to Run for Prime Minister: “It Was Never My Life’s Aim”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently disclosed that he turned down an offer to run for the Prime Minister’s position, stating it was never his ambition. Speaking at a journalism awards function in Nagpur, Gadkari shared an encounter where a political leader offered support if he pursued the PM post, but Gadkari declined, citing his commitment to his convictions and organization.

Recalling a meeting with a senior CPI leader, Gadkari praised late A.B. Bardhan, one of Nagpur and Vidarbha’s most respected politicians, and emphasized the value of honest opposition, even if it comes from political adversaries. Gadkari highlighted the need for ethics in both journalism and politics, reflecting on how both fields currently lack individuals of such integrity.
